Chapter Fourteen: Mid-Game Strategy

Pales draws back another glass of blood from her lips, reaching back over and placing it to the side of the plastic play mat before looking over to Xerroth, sitting in a chair nearby and enjoying the show.

“Alright, ready~” she says with a smile.

The tentacle-faced seer flicks his purplish-green forefinger into the hand-held spinner, causing the little arrow to whirl.

“Thats, yeah, that’s ‘left foot, red’.”

Pales scoffs as she looks for a red spot on the mat to move her left foot to; she’s far too contorted by this point to make an easy move.

“About g-given up?” Meeo asks, her torso thrust out into the air, body lifted upside down in a most uncomfortable-looking, albeit naughty fashion.

“Not in the slightest, my dear.” Pales peers about one last time. “A matter of fact I’m… just… getting… started!” At that, Pales successfully stretches between Meeo’s ankles, under her entire body, to the red space past her.

Meeo scoffs, jointly in humor, and jointly in stress. “That’s… quite impressive, my lady.”

“I’m not used to tight spots like this,” she admits, “but I’m flexible when I want to be.”

Meeo takes a strained breath as she stretches to look over to the seer. “Spin me.”

Xerroth gurgles curtly as he flicks the spinner. “…Right hand, green.”

Pales chuckles victoriously as Meeo looks over to the only available green space within her reach.

“That’s not appropriate, my lady,” Meeo says.

“What’s the matter. Bad at games?” Pales coos, her eyes shining a lascivious hue.

With a sigh, the realmancer is forced to lift Pales’ dress a bit to make room in between her thighs, allowing her elbow enough of an angle to lead to the green spot.

Meeo smiles awkwardly at Pales who gives a short, admiring giggle. “Now that wasn’t so hard, was it?” she asks, reaching for a quick sip of blood from her glass.

“I-” Meeo hums. “I’ll go as far as I need.”

“How very admirable! I wonder, though, if you’re entirely up to the ta- ah, there we go.”

During Pales’ words, Meeo’s center gives out, buckling onto the mat and declaring the vampire queen the victor. “Ah… well… well played!” Meeo congratulates as she, rather slowly, gets up from the mat and brushes herself off.

Pales, still holding her excruciating position a second more, steadily, slowly begins slinking back to her feet, as if it were all calming, delicate yoga. “Well played indeed, I apologize if it was uncomfortable.”

“Not at all! It was lots of fun. I just don’t remember the last time I competed at something without using magic.”

“Fun, isn’t it?”

Meeo snaps her fingers at certain spots along her body, reopening her alteration pathways and waking up her enchantments. “I wouldn’t say it would be my choice of entertainment. I’m more into books, but it was worth a go.”

Pales gently pushes Meeo aside, just as Xerroth flinches from seemingly nothing. “Ahh, you’re so boring! Come on, we should find something else to d-”

“My lady!” Xerroth shouts, his several yellow eyes focusing into his sphere.

With a speed that Meeo didn’t think Pales would be capable of, she snaps her head to look Xerroth’s way.
